KERRI MCKAY

Kerri McKay celebrates color and contemporary realism through her selection of still-life and seascape paintings. Her work captures the beauty of sunshine, shadows, and signs of life, evoking smiles and fostering an appreciation for the world around us. Through her art, Kerri aims to inspire others, helping them enjoy their day and encouraging them to create their own works. Her style is grounded in realism, with a slight enhancement of color and bold brush strokes that bring life and interest to each composition. At the heart of her work is the sensation of light interacting with its subject. While plein air painting outdoors is her ideal experience, Kerri also enjoys the challenge of capturing light and shadows in still-life compositions. No matter where she is, her paints are always ready.

Kerri’s career highlights include plein air and portrait painting across the Northeast and Europe; permanent murals at the New York Public Library’s High Bridge Branch (Bronx) and South Side Middle School (Rockville Centre); an Artist-in-Residence role at The Fields Project (Illinois); and the creation of her artist’s book West Meets East during a visit to Japan (Brooklyn Sketchbook Library). She has also participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions from 1997 to the present. Kerri holds a BA in Studio Art from SUNY Cortland, a BFA in Graphic Design from the School of Visual Arts, and an MSEd in Art Education from Queens College.
